In This Household Perseus Is A Goddamn Villain

Written by Margo

In this household Perseus is a

Goddamn.

Villain.

bookshelves tilted

as I was given access to novels and textbooks

as I learned to crawl towards danger

I was never really taught how to clean nor satisfy anything

besides My Own impulses

My Mother

wielded the power to silence a man with her gaze,

her words magnetic manifestations.

I suppose it it is genetic,

like my sapient curls

No wonder men try desperately to take off my head

deem me

crazy, wild, ruthless.

I was taught to be a killer, too.

A mirror or stone, no difference would it make.

I was shown how to hold the attention of lawmakers and kings with

the divots in my birthing hips

by the enchanting dialect

I conjure and

by the way my

green and black pupils dilate

watching My Sister lead my matriarch.

Our Daughters

walk higher

holding Medusa on the crown of our heads

Hearing her on the back of our necks...
