In this household Perseus is a
Goddamn.
Villain.
bookshelves tilted
as I was given access to novels and textbooks
as I learned to crawl towards danger
I was never really taught how to clean nor satisfy anything
besides My Own impulses
My Mother
wielded the power to silence a man with her gaze,
her words magnetic manifestations.
I suppose it it is genetic,
like my sapient curls
No wonder men try desperately to take off my head
deem me
crazy, wild, ruthless.
I was taught to be a killer, too.
A mirror or stone, no difference would it make.
I was shown how to hold the attention of lawmakers and kings with
the divots in my birthing hips
by the enchanting dialect
I conjure and
by the way my
green and black pupils dilate
watching My Sister lead my matriarch.
